Payment plans
In order to maximize your student's lunch period and the efficiency of the lunch line generally, we strongly recommend either of the prepaid lunch programs below or to pay in advance on a weekly basis.
Annual payment plan is due on Book Day and offers 15 days of free lunches. Due to this discount, there will be no refunds for missed lunches. Cost is $392.50. If you child is absent for an extended period of time, contact Marilyn Vater, Cafeteria Manager.
Quarterly payment plan is also due on Book Day for the first quarter and due the same day as quarterly tuition payments for the remaining three. This plan offers two days of free lunches and costs $102.50 per quarter with no refund for missed lunches.
Students qualified for the USDA's Reduced Lunch Program are requested to participate in either prepaid plan in order to preserve anonymity (annual plan: $62.80/quarterly plan: $16.40).
Checks should be made payable to "CLS Cafeteria". There is a $25.00 fee for all returned checks, consistent with overall School Policy.
Cafeteria fee
An annual cafeteria fee of $144.00 is assessed per family and due on Book Day. This fee can be earned back by helping in the cafeteria for 36 hours during the school year. This is a great way to meet other CLS parents and integrate into the fabric of the CLS community. There are a striking number of mothers and fathers who volunteer on a regular basis to help offset the School's cost. Please complete the cafeteria volunteer form and submit it on Book Day.
Lunches charges
Any student that needs to charge a lunch must visit the cafeteria prior to homeroom or at the ten minute break and complete a charge slip. Students who comply will proceed with others in the serving line; those who do not must go to the end of the serving line to complete the charge slip to allow the lunch line to move more quickly and efficiently.
Charges are offered to students as a courtesy so that no student needing a lunch will be denied. The charge must be paid by the following school day to avoid disciplinary action. In the unlikely event a student accumulates three unpaid charges, the student's parents will be notified and a request for payment will be made. Until unpaid charges are settled, additional charge requests will result in an alternative meal (defined as a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and milk, meeting the FDA requirement that a meal contain three of the five food groups.)
