Cory Blackson Named CLS Athletics Director
The Trojans have news that knocks it out of the park!
On Monday, July 14, 2025, Thomas More University President Joseph L. Chillo, LP.D. announced that Cory Blackson will serve as Covington Latin School's Athletic Director for the 2025-2026 school year.
“As we continue to advance the affiliation between Covington Latin School and Thomas More University, we are excited to appoint Cory Blackson as Athletic Director. Cory brings a wealth of experience in athletics, compliance and a deep commitment to the student-athlete experience,” stated President Chillo.
Blackson brings a wealth of athletic administration knowledge to CLS. He has been an integral part of the Thomas More Saints community for nearly two decades, serving currently as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance. Blackson will continue his responsibilities at Thomas More, in addition to serving as Director of Athletics for CLS.

About Cory Blackson
Cory Blackson is entering his 18th year in the athletic department at Thomas More University and serves as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance.
Cory was appointed the Athletics Director of Covington Latin School in July 2025.
From 2008 to 2021, Blackson was the Director of Athletic Communication and took on the role of Senior Athletic Compliance Officer in 2015. In 2018 he was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Communication and then in the summer of 2021 he was moved full-time to compliance as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance.
Blackson is responsible for the overall development, implementation, and review of the University’s athletic compliance program. He is also responsible for the daily operation of the compliance programs, including rules education, rules interpretations, and coordinating rules compliance efforts.
Blackson, who graduated from Capital University in 2002 and earned his MBA from Thomas More in 2017, was the assistant sports information director at Baldwin Wallace University from 2006-2008, where he was the primary contact for men’s and women’s soccer, women’s basketball, men’s and women’s golf, volleyball and softball. Prior to working at Baldwin Wallace, he spent one year as the sports information director of the USA South Athletic Conference in Fayetteville, North Carolina and one year as the assistant sports information director at Capital. As an undergraduate at Capital, Blackson was the student assistant with the men’s basketball team and was the Director of Basketball Operations for the men’s basketball team for two years after graduating.
Blackson is a member of the National Association for Athletic Compliance (NAAC) and the College Sports Information Director of America (CoSIDA), where he served on the organizations' Academic All-America committee from 2006 to 2021. He currently serves on the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Ethics and Eligibility Committee and serves as vice-chair of the G-MAC Compliance Committee. Blackson served as the Head Men's Golf Coach at Thomas More during the 2010-2011 academic year. He served on the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Mid-Atlantic Regional Advisory Committee during the 2010-11 academic year and on the Men's Golf Great Lakes Regional Advisory Committee during the 2013-14 academic year.
Blackson and his wife, Susan, reside in Edgewood, Kentucky with their children.
